 My Background

2003 - Bachelor of Arts in Music (Trombone Emphasis), Truman State University

2005 - Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting, Truman State University

2006 - Master of Arts in Education, Truman State University

This is my fourth year at Sunny Vale Middle School. I teach sixth grade band, seventh grade band, eighth grade band, jazz ensemble, and jazz combo. I also assist with teaching the Blue Springs High School Golden Regiment Marching Band and teach private lessons. Before Sunny Vale, I interned at Blue Springs High School with Dr. Tim Allshouse. Prior to that, I was a graduate assistant at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. While there I taught music theory/aural skills, marching band, and tuba/euphonium, worked as a conductor in concert band, wind symphony, and the orchestra, and served as musical director for the theatre department production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. I studied trombone with Jay Bulen, piano with Janice Saffir, and conducting with Tom Trimborn, Sam McClure, and Dan Peterson.

When I am not at work, I am enjoying time with my family: my wife Mary, who just finished her masters in teaching English as a Second Language at University of Central Missouri, our son Ian (2), and our daughter Mira (1.)

Good communication is very important to me. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can reach me by e-mail (most reliable) or by phone/voicemail. My plan period is from 2:00 to 3:10.
